The Laboratory Safety and Chemical Hygiene - provides comprehensive safety training, guidance, and regulatory oversight for all faculty, staff, students, and researchers working in laboratory environments at CAU. The program promotes safe laboratory practices through education and compliance initiatives focused on the proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and other hazardous materials.

Serving as a principal point of contact for laboratory and chemical safety emergencies, the program ensures rapid response and effective resolution of issues related to laboratory operations. Oversight includes hazardous materials approval and procurement workflows to ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and institutional standards, while mitigating chemical, biological, and radiological risks.

Through collaboration with facilities, procurement, laboratory personnel, and research teams, the program maintains consistent safety practices across campus. Root cause analyses and incident investigations are conducted to strengthen safety systems, enhance compliance, and continuously improve the university鈥檚 safety culture while reducing recordable incidents.
