Below are the primary ways to connect and get support. ## 📶 Wireless Network (Wi-Fi) CAU offers multiple wireless networks to support faculty, staff, students, and visitors. ### CAUnet (Faculty & Staff) CAUnet is the secure wireless network for faculty and staff computers. This network is intended for university-owned or approved computers and provides access to internal campus resources. CAUnet is not intended for mobile phones or tablets. ### PantherGuest (Students & Visitors) PantherGuest provides wireless internet access for students, visitors, and personal devices across campus. This network supports general browsing and access to cloud-based services. ### Residence Hall Wi-Fi Students living in campus residence halls use **Xfinity On Campus Wi-Fi.** This service supports multiple personal devices and provides wireless internet access in residence hall rooms. ## Wired Network Wired network access is available in **faculty and staff offices** and **academic classrooms**. Wired connections provide reliable, high-speed access for desktop computers and instructional equipment. **Note:** Wired network access is not available in student residence halls. ## VPN (Remote Access) The Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides secure remote access to certain university systems and resources when working off campus. VPN access is available to **students, faculty, and staff**. The VPN software is **installed on university-issued devices** to enable secure connections to CAU network resources. VPN is typically used when access is required to systems or services that are only available from the campus network. If you need assistance with VPN access or connection issues, contact [IT Support](/about/offices-resources/information-technology/support "Support"). ## Telecommunications 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ provides telephony services for faculty and staff using a Voice-over-IP (VoIP) phone system. Telecommunications support includes desk phones, voicemail setup, soft phone setup on your computer, telephone usage, and fax instructions. Telephone Services CAU desk phones support on-campus, local, long-distance, and international calling. - To call a campus extension, dial the **4-digit extension** (the last four digits of the full phone number). - To place **intrastate or interstate long-distance calls**, dial the **area code plus the telephone number**. The telephone system will prompt you to enter an **authorization code**. - To place **direct-dialed international calls**, dial **011**, followed by the **country code**, **city code**, and **telephone number**. Authorization may be required. **Campus Operator:** To reach the campus operator, dial **8000** and press 0. **Emergency Numbers:** - **Emergencies only:** Dial **8911** - **Non-emergencies:** Dial **8623** These numbers should be used appropriately to ensure timely response. Voicemail Voice mailboxes are assigned to faculty and staff as part of phone provisioning. You are responsible for initializing your mailbox and setting your greeting. To access voicemail: 1. Dial the main voicemail number **8760** 2. Follow the voice prompts to set up your PIN and greeting 3. To send a fax: - Dial **9** for an outside line - Then enter the **10-digit number** (area code plus number) - For long distance or international calls, follow standard dialing conventions This applies to all numbers dialed from on-campus fax equipment. Softphone Teleworkers have access to softphone which mirrors your desk phone and provides the same capabilities remotely.
